01.30.11 - Glad to see Grampy Keith
Nate and his sister and his mommy spent the weekend hanging out with Gramma Karen at Nan and Pop's house while Grampy Keith and I worked on tiling a bathroom. Nate was sure glad to see us when we finally finished.

Today was the one unseasonably warm winter day that Wichita always seems to get near the end of January. The high reached at least 70 degrees so before dinner we hit the back yard to enjoy some fresh air and a few trips down the slide.

01.27.11 - Look familiar?
Our Parents as Teachers parent educator came for her regular visit tonight. Nate enjoyed playing with the toys she brought for him although he still played shy. But there's something more. Do you recognize that shirt? Today marked the first time that we officially had "hand me downs" at our house. Nate wore this shirt that Grandma Shepherd originally bought for Maddie. It reads, "I didn't do it. No one saw me do it. I want to speak to my grandma." Click here to see Maddie wearing it.

01.25.11 - Book worm
We took the kids to the library for the first time tonight. Maddie loved the puzzles which was puzzling to me as she is really into books. Nate loved all the books and tried to pull them all off the shelf. He did flip through this one for awhile, though. As we were checking out, the librarian asked me to update our account information. I had to sign a form to do it. When I asked him for the date, I immediately realized I only have about one week left to do this blog.

01.24.11 - New furniture
Nate's room is slowly becoming the "boys' room." Maddie's crib went in a few weeks ago when she graduated to a big girl bed. A new crib mattress should arrive soon. Tonight we picked up a chest of drawers to replace a longer dresser that would not fit with two cribs. Somehow, we're going to make this work. We might even be ready in time. ;)

Nate enjoyed a game of peek-a-boo with Savannah at brunch this morning while celebrating Gramma Karen's birthday. She probably wouldn't like it if we told you how old she is so let's just say she's a pretty "nifty" gramma!

Karen, my partner in Heartland Photography stopped by over lunch to drop off some materials. She went right up to see Nate and he immediately shut down. Poor kid. I can relate. Growing up, I was always pretty bashful around girls. Here's hoping he grows out of it before he's 22.

01.10.11 - Inside recess
Wichita received its first measurable snowfall of the season today. We probably had three or four inches at our house. But because Nate's got a cold, he wasn't able to go outside with Mommy and Maddie after work. Instead, he had to stay inside and play with Daddy. He didn't really play. He just stood by the patio doors and watched. Poor guy, I wish I could have taken him out! I have a photo that shows him considerably upset but I opted not to put the grandparents through that!
