02.27.11 - Good signs

Update: Nate was released from the hospital late Monday night.

Today was our fourth day in the hospital. The whole time we've just been waiting for Nate's O2 level to stabilize. It was about 89 when we were ordered to the hospital and he was put on 2L of O2. As I type this, he's asleep on Angie's shoulder with a rate of 92 while being on about .125mL of O2. It tends to go down when he's sleeping. He has to be off O2 and maintain at least a 95 for 12 hours before he will be released so we may not go home tomorrow either. But, tonight was the first night that he didn't develop a fever in the evening and his O2 level has remained fairly high. He may have to stay on it all night but at least we see some encouraging signs that we're headed in the right direction.

02.24.11 - Up your nose with a rubber hose

Dr. Green ordered Nate to the hospital today to be observed for low oxygen saturation. As it turns out, it was a good call. Nate has RSV.

02.13.11 - Head of the table

Nate is now joining us at the big table for meal times. Still drinking occasionally from a baby bottle, though.

02.12.11 - Snowman

The weather has been a roller coaster lately. We've had two major snowstorms sandwiched in with two warm spells that have set record highs. The temps finally warmed up enough today to spend a little bit of time in the snow, which will probably be all melted in the next day or two. Sadly, our front yard visitor probably won't live long.

02.11.11 - First steps!

Nate's been pushing his Walker Rider around like a crazy driver for some time but tonight he kicked that bad boy to the curb and took his very own steps!

02.10.11 - Nate's first birthday party

We celebrated Nate's first birthday with a party last Saturday. We had a great time and so did Nate! Can't believe he's already a year old already. Angie went all out on his monkey cake. It looked - and tasted - great!


Nate was excited to get his first gift: A little chair just like Maddie's!






Nate got most excited about his Royals baseball bat. I think he automatically qualifies to bat anywhere in the real Royals lineup.














The cake was a hit with Nate, too. He went straight from his high chair to the bath tub!

02.05.11 - Best of Nate 2010!

Now that Nate's turned 1, I went back through his blog and picked a few of my favorite images from the past year. As I look back, I'm speechless, really. It seems like just yesterday Angie and I were walking the beaches of Southern California knowing that we'd be having a son. Fast forward and here we are. I'm amazed at how happy he is and how well Maddie has adjusted to having a little brother. If my life has no other purpose, it's to be the dad of the best kids a dad could ask for. 02.03.11 - Birthday boy!

Before scooting out to work, Mommy made Nate a special birthday breakfast of blueberry pancakes with eggs. We'll celebrate in style at a party this weekend. And while I'll post some photos of Nate here periodically through the next weeks and months, this is the last "daily" post. Thanks to all of Nate's loyal fans for checking in and putting up with extended gaps between posts. I can't believe he's a year already and I can't wait to see what the next year brings! Good times, I'm sure!

Nate's so happy that K-State finally won a basketball game that he's wearing his Wildcat jams to bed tonight. Go State!
