10.31.11 - Sack o' Taters

Angie and I made Nate's costume this year - a sack o' taters. The potatoes are made out of pantyhose and poly-fil. The sack is an actual potato sack Nan found at a nearby co-op and altered so that it could be worn. We used a fabric marker from Michaels to stencil on the lettering.

10.25.11 - What's happening?!!

While watching a replay of last night's World Series Game 5, Nate mimics St. Louis Cardinals' manager Tony LaRussa after what could be considered the biggest managerial blunder in World Series history. Wanna know what I'm talking about? Click here.

10.24.11 - I'll save you, brother!

Tommy rolled around on his bedroom floor today until he was halfway under Nate's bed. So, as any good brother would do, Nate tried to pull him out.

10.17.11 - Big truck

Nate has recently become fascinated with big trucks, tractors and school buses. He loves that Grandpa Shepherd drives a big truck and tonight got to explore it for the first time.

Here he is checking out the bed liner.

And "smiling" for the camera.

Still "smiling" for the camera.

10.13.11 - Playgroup

Nate enjoyed playing cars and trucks with Dr. Quadri, a second-year psychiatry resident, during a childhood development playgroup at KU today.

I think the doctor had fun, too!

Nate's new thing is cars and trucks. He's getting some for Christmas and likes to look at Grandpa Shepherd's big white truck every time he comes over.

10.07.11 - Daddy's hat

Nate came walking down the hallway today wearing my "#1 Dad" hat so Angie asked him if he was going to be a daddy someday. All he would say was, "Momma!"

09.26.11 - Potty practice

Nate has been watching Maddie go potty for the last three months and tonight decided he wanted to try it for himself. He's got the reading part down, as did his sister (click here) when she was learning. He's still working on the other part.

09.24.11 - Tree house and Grandma's house

It was the Smithsonian's Museum Day today, so we took advantage of the free admission to checkout Botanica. We'd never been there and we were told its Childrens' Garden was awesome.

And. It. Is.

Here, Angie and Nate stop for a portrait while climbing the tree house.

Nate spent a lot of time watering the flowers outside Grandma's house while Maddie was inside baking cookies with some other girls.

So many watering cans and so many flowers to water. Where to start?

Soon he realized Maddie was somewhere else and he went looking for her. It usually doesn't matter what Maddie's up to, Nate wants to be right there with her. I hope she doesn't mind!

As a result, he likes to play kitchen. Maybe he'll grow up to be a famous chef. Or at least invite his mom and dad over for dinner every now and then.

Today we went to the zoo for Daddy's birthday.
