09.26.11 - Potty practice

Nate has been watching Maddie go potty for the last three months and tonight decided he wanted to try it for himself. He's got the reading part down, as did his sister (click here) when she was learning. He's still working on the other part.

09.24.11 - Tree house and Grandma's house

It was the Smithsonian's Museum Day today, so we took advantage of the free admission to checkout Botanica. We'd never been there and we were told its Childrens' Garden was awesome.

And. It. Is.

Here, Angie and Nate stop for a portrait while climbing the tree house.

Nate spent a lot of time watering the flowers outside Grandma's house while Maddie was inside baking cookies with some other girls.

So many watering cans and so many flowers to water. Where to start?

Soon he realized Maddie was somewhere else and he went looking for her. It usually doesn't matter what Maddie's up to, Nate wants to be right there with her. I hope she doesn't mind!

As a result, he likes to play kitchen. Maybe he'll grow up to be a famous chef. Or at least invite his mom and dad over for dinner every now and then.

08.28.11 - Man-happiness

We spent the weekend in Manhattan celebrating Uncle Brian's birthday. We woke up early this morning, enjoyed doughnuts for breakfast, played in City Park (where this photo was taken), had lunch at Pizza Hut in Aggieville before heading back home. Though we can barely recognize the place (it's changed so much in the last decade), we are definitely in love with the idea of someday making Manhattan our home. Nate says he's OK with it so long as he gets to hang out at the City Park playground everyday.

08.14.11 - (Not so) Mr. Clean

Contrary to yesterday's post, Nate is anything but clean when eating. He especially enjoyed having chocolate pudding for dessert at Gramma Karen and Grampy Keith's today. Or maybe the chocolate pudding had him!

08.13.11 - Mr. Clean

Nate likes to sweep and mop our living room and kitchen floors. Maybe he's trying to tell us something. It's alright with me if he wants to start doing chores. I've got a lot more where that came from!

08.11.11 - Turn your back for three seconds ...

08.10.11 - Kissing Kenleigh

Kenleigh came to play tonight while her dad helped me replace a soffit and some fascia board on the house. They used to be our next door neighbors and we saw each other quite a bit, like the time she laid a smooch on him. Nate was bashful then (Click here) but tonight he wasn't so shy. That's my boy, Nate!

08.09.11 - Cheeps*

Nate thought it was hilarious to feed me chips on the floor before dinner tonight. He'd stick part of one in my mouth, breaking it off at his finger tips and just laugh, laugh laugh about it. Because of the commotion (or maybe because there was food involved), Harley had to check it out.

And when Nate wouldn't share with her, she chased him around the living room!

*This blog post dedicated to Cohen Museousky, who finally made it home after 27 days in the hospital following his first round of chemo. One of his favorite foods is "cheeps."Click here to follow his progress on his blog. The poor little guy still has a long way to go.

08.07.11 - Eat more Chicken (McNuggets)

Maddie likes 'em. Nate likes 'em. Tommy will probably like 'em, too.
