Besides Nathan, the other name we considered for Nate was Thomas. It's a family name but also a reference to one of our favorite movies, Tommy Boy! Our friends Brian and Emily know us all too well as they're the ones who got Angie the "Callahan Auto Parts" t-shirt for her birthday yesterday.
We could have had our own Tommy Boy, but what if he'd grown up to be a "huge embarrassing failure?" Really, Nate was our first choice all along however we did have this conversation more than once.
Both Callahan and "huge embarrassing failure" are references to that movie.
